Kenneth P. Bangs, PhD has been practicing in the mental health field for 34 years, providing the full range of psychological services for adults, including diagnostic evaluations, assessments, and therapy for individuals, couples, and groups. He also has over 21½ years of experience evaluating public safety candidates – police officers, firefighters, emergency dispatchers – for a number of municipalities, universities, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Connecticut State Police. Second-level psychological evaluations of public safety candidates who have been conditionally hired are conducted by a doctoral-level, licensed clinical psychologist. An individualized report is then generated for each candidate and is sent to the referring agency with specific recommendations regarding the candidate’s appropriateness for hiring from a psychological perspective. Reports are provided in a timely fashion to accommodate deadlines agencies may have to fill positions in their departments and allotted training slots. Evaluations are conducted within the parameters and guidelines set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Equal Employment Opportunities Act and in compliance with the standards of the State of Connecticut Police Officers Standards and Training Council (POST).
